One of the ways Sophia works for justice is in the Human Rights Coalition, which several Sophia women helped to establish.

It is 60 years since the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was supported by Australia but the Federal Government has never enshrined these rights in law. 

The United Kingdom, New Zealand, Canada, South Africa and USA have all done so.

It is time for Australia to do this too.

Government legislation regarding refugees, Aboriginal people in Northern Territory and Anti-Terrorism measures shows how urgent this is.
